Elaine Boiled

This is an illustration of Elaine from Arthurian legend. I was particularly fascinated by T.H. White's rendition; "The Once and Future King". In it he describes Elaine: ".. has been kept boiling in scalding water for many winters by magic"

Lancelot rescues Elaine and bears Galahad - the Jesus figure in the saga. I wanted to portray a divine woman who was numbed by the lengthy pain.

This was painted in a combination of Corel Painter and Adobe Photoshop. No photographic references were used. A photographic textural layer was utilised.
